The Munich Motor Show 2025 has begun, and it’s already turning out to be one of the automotive events of the decade. From future-minded electric cars to AI-powered driving systems, the show sends strong signals about where the automotive world is heading this year.

Audi has taken the wraps off a bold new two-seater sports car inspired by the TT—and which previews an extreme design language of all future cars from the brand—that will be on sale in remarkably similar form in 2027. It’ll seat just two passengers and be all-electric. It will also be a sister car to the Porsche Boxster EV.

BMW iX3

BMW has unveiled the new iX3 electric vehicle, which it says heralds a new era of design, technology, drivability, and production processes as the first in its Neue Klasse line-up. There should be a class-leading range of roughly 500 miles on a charge with advanced battery tech at play.

Renault Clio

Today the Clio is Europe’s top-selling car, and a new sixth-generation model will be introduced in 2026. ​The new Clio will be a hybrid using an evolved version of the current E-Tech set-up, in which an atmospheric four-cylinder engine and two electric motors work together to produce 143 bhp and 151lb ft.

The new show car—the Tindaya concept car—previews the next evolution of the brand’s design language and is named after a volcanic mountain on the Atlantic island of Fuerteventura because “its copper-toned rock reflects Cupra’s own signature,” said the brand.

This is a new “forward-thinking” concept car by Hyundai. A compact electric SUV, it will rival the Renault 4, Ford Puma Gen-E, and Volvo EX30 when it goes on sale as a production model.

This new SUV effectively replaces the EQC, with both it and the ICE-engined GLC being sold side by side. It is built on a bespoke new EV platform and features a striking illuminated grille.

Previews: Vision The O concept previews the next-generation Octavia estate, next out before the end of the decade as the first electric-powered Skoda legacy nametag. That it will establish for the next generation where Skoda’s design language is going, although it will be influenced by its forebearer, generations of Octavia past.

The new electric model is a compact crossover that is due in showrooms before the end of 2026 and will serve as an EV equivalent to the new T-Cross.

The production version of that concept side will be called the ID Polo as VW starts doling out familiar model names on its electric models. The company thinks that long-established names are likely to give many of its new electric models a helping hand in the marketplace; equally, it looks like the Golf name will not only live on in name for creation EVs, as this story suggests.

Vauxhall/Opel Corsa GSE Vision concept

The next-gen Vauxhall/Opel Corsa is previewed by the 789 bhp, 1170 kg electric concept car called the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo, built to showcase what a future GSE performance brand can do. The Mk7 Corsa is expected to arrive in 2026.
